Seaspan Corporation has ordered two 11,800 TEU containerships from China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, part of a broader US$440 million package involving eight vessels. The deal was revealed in a filing to the Singapore Exchange, reports Singapore's Splash 247.
The latest order brings Yangzijiang's 2025 intake to 44 ships valued at $1.9 billion. Seaspan's additions reinforce its long-standing relationship with the Chinese yard.
Earlier this year, the Bing Chen-led company committed to twelve 9,000 TEU vessels at Hudong-Zhonghua and Shanghai Waigaoqiao, with deliveries expected from 2028.
Seaspan, a unit of Atlas Corp, remains the world's largest containership lessor, operating a fleet of more than 180 vessels and holding over 40 on order.
The two new 11,800 TEU ships at Yangzijiang are slated for delivery between 2027 and 2029.
