SAUDI Arabian Logistics Company (SAL) has opened a pharma hub at the Cargo Village at King Khalid International, ahead of the rollout of Covid vaccines, reports London's Air Cargo News.
The facilities will have 5,000 sq m of storage space and will process 365,000 tonnes of cargo each year. They'll also have thermal isolation for refrigerated shipping containers.
The facilities will have four docks for refrigerated loading containers, special storage for flower cargo, and twelve warehouses meant for housing cargo at different temperature ranges.
'The launch of the Riyadh cold storage facilities comes at a historic moment that coincides with the world's anticipation for the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine. This urgency makes us harness the capabilities of the operation capacity of our pharmaceutical facility and be fully prepared to receive and handle the new vaccines in coordination with the health authorities,' said SAL chief executive Omar Hariri.
