FESCO Transport Group, managed Rosatom State Corporation, opened the summer navigation season with a voyage to Chukotka under the Northern Supplies programme, reports Tass, the russian news agency.
The group's containership departed from the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port as part of FESCO's Anadyr Direct Line. The vessel will deliver 58 tons of general cargo and 235 TEU to Chukotka's ports.
Most of the cargo consists of food products (177 TEU), as well as building materials (54 TEU) and medicines (four TEU). The summer navigation season continues until November.
'Traditionally, FESCO ice-class containerships are among the first to begin summer navigation in the region,' FESCO Vladivostok chief Nikolay Chvertko. 'This year, we plan it is our vessel that will open navigation in the port of Egvekinot.'
