QANTAS Freight is to expand its China freighter operation with the start of a new flight to Shanghai later this month.
The new twice-weekly service will operate between Shanghai and Sydney using one of the airline's Airbus A330-200 converted freighters.
The service is due to start on 26 June, departing on Thursdays and Sundays.
The new service will 'mark the first time regular Red Tail A330 freighter flights will operate between these two major cargo hubs' and will provide 'increased capacity for Australian exporters to access China's busiest cargo port'.
The airline added that flights had been timed to enable connections from other Australian ports, providing more opportunities for Australian producers across the country to uplift their goods to China, reports London's Air Cargo News.
In terms of international freighter operations, qantas Freight also offers flights from Sydney and Perth to Hong Kong using an A330F; Melbourne and Sydney to Auckland and Christchurch in New Zealand using an A321F.
It also offers two loops using Boeing 747F, the first originating in Sydney and taking in Chongqing, Shanghai, Anchorage, Chicago, Los Angeles, Honolulu and Auckland; and the second starting in Sydney and going to Bangkok, Shanghai, Anchorage, New York JFK Chicago, Los Angeles and Honolulu.
A Saturday departure of the second loop exchanges Los Angeles for Dallas Fort Worth and also stops at Melbourne.
