2M Alliance partners, AP Moller- Maersk and Mediterranean Shipping Company(MSC), have added a port call in Miami to their Mediterranean/US Gulf Service (TA6).
The weekly service operated by a fleet of eight containerships expands trade and commerce opportunities connecting major Mediterranean markets to the US via PortMiami. It will generate an estimated 1,040 TEU per call, reported the American Journal of Transportation.
The revised port rotation for the TA6 is: Gioia Tauro, Naples, La Spezia, Barcelona, Valencia, Algeciras, Sines, Freeport, Miami, Vera Cruz, Altamira, Houston, New Orleans, Miami, Freeport, Sines, Algeciras and Barcelona.
PortMiami's independent container terminals, South Florida Container Terminal (SFCT) and Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company (POMTOC), are participating in the operations.
'We welcome the TA6 to our global gateway,' said Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez. 'I'm proud that PortMiami continues to steadily expand its cargo business. We're witnessing the results of more than US$1 billion completed capital infrastructure investments that offer shippers a strategic hub equipped to efficiently handle the world's ocean carriers.'
