Port Said, Ismailia, Suez port operations continue despite riots
THE Egyptian Army has been deployed to ensure all vessels can safely navigate the Suez Canal and has taken control of the Suez Canal building, reports Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) from the scene.
"But ISS recommends for the safety of all personnel that any embarking or disembarking is postponed until the situation settles," said a company statement.
"Most port operations are continuing in Port Said, Ismailia and Suez, and canal convoys have not been interrupted despite ongoing disturbances in Egypt and a state of emergency being declared in the three Suez Canal cities," said an Inchcape statement.
Nonetheless all husbandry services, such as repairs and other shipping agency duties, have been suspended at all Egyptian ports including crew changes and transfers, "cash to master" and shipments delivery as road transport is unsafe by the company due to the unrest.
