PORT of Hamburg Marketing CEO Claudia Roller will retire at the end of the year for health reasons and step down as CEO immediately, handing control to board member Axel Mattern from July 1 pending an executive search for a successor.
From April 1 2008 Ms Roller served first as an executive board member of Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) and then as CEO. Together with Mr Mattern she has successfully led the marketing organisation for the German port with "great dedication," said an HMM statement. She continues to January as a consultant.
Said Ms Roller: "The decision to retire from working life is a difficult one. My tasks and work at HHM have always given me great pleasure, working with so many cooperation partners, in the interest of our member companies in Hamburg's port economy and in the region."
Having trained as a shipping agent, during her career she has gained experience in shipping companies as well as in port business, and "intensively faced the challenges of the seaport business and organising traffic in the hinterland," the release said.
The Supervisory Board of HHM will tackle the question of a successor for Claudia Roller, it added.
