The Meal Sand Beach in Burra and Watsness, near Walls in Shetland was covered with pineapples started washing ashore 10 months after containers carrying the fruit were lost overboard from the 'Lombok Strait' in the Atlantic while travelling from the Panama Canal to Dover, reported on Oct 22, 2017. Two 40ft containers with pineapples and bananas had been washed overboard in bad weather at 11.10 a.m. The vessel was heading for Dover. The duty counter-pollution and salvage officer was informed and the Receiver of Wreck was notified along with the various agencies whose waters the containers may have passed through.
