THE Philippines Department of Transportation and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is inviting bids to finance, build and operate the PHP17 billion (US$381.39 million) Port Davao Sasa on Mindinao.
The Port of Davao consists of a number of ports, all within the Davao Gulf which is part of the Celebes Sea, but its main office and seaport is located at Sasa, Mindinao.
Tenders call for the 550,000-TEU capacity port to be equipped with modern container facilities, for an initial 1,900 container ground slots to be increased to 2,700 over the 30-year concession period.
The project also involves construction of a new apron, development of linear quay, expansion of the backup area, new container yards and warehousing, reports the Manila Times.
The existing port occupies a total area of 18 hectares (44 acres), including a four-hectare container yard, and 864 container yard ground slots.
Beijing probes former Ningbo port chairman on corruption charges
BEIJING is investigating ex-Ningbo port chairman Xu Huajiang, the latest target in President Xi Jiping's national anti-corruption drive, Reuters reports.
Xu, who recently resigned from the Ningbo Port Group, is being investigated on "suspicion of serious violations of the law", according to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
