Peruvian dockers back to work after 3-week strike at APMT terminal
PERUVIAN dockers at the country's biggest port, Callao, have reached a contract agreement to end a three-week strike, Reuters reports.
The 650 workers at Callao's northern terminal were striking against Maersk's standalone port operator APM Terminals (APMT), whose officials made no comment.
Members of the union, SUTRAMPORPC, voted to back the deal and will sign it with the company, said union general secretary Geraldo Honores.
Dockers went on strike to protest an automated system for selecting shifts, which was introduced after police said dockers were smuggling cocaine out in export containers.
