On Oct 19, 2017, an explosion with ensuing fire rocked the "Atlantic Symphony" which was berthed at the Koole Terminal in the industrial area Vondelingenplaat in Rotterdam with a cargo of coconut oil. A flame of 50 meters height and the smoke clouds were seen as far as from the Maas lock, Vlaardingen and Schiedam. One crew member was injured when he slipped off on another part of the deck. He was treated by ambulance staff before being taken to hospital. Fire engines, tugs and fire boats were deployed to the scene and brought the fire under control. Alongside the tanker also the Malta flagged tank m/v "Manas" was moored. The cause of the explosion was under investigation. The "Atlantic Symphony" had sailed in Port Klang on Sep 13 and arrived in Rotterdam on Oct 15.
