PAKISTANI Ports and Shipping Minister Kamran Michael says the Pakistan Deep Water Containers Port in Karachi, will be completed by the end of next year, reported the Associated Press of Pakistan.
After visiting the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), Senator Michael gave assurances that his ministry will clear all kinds of encroachments on port land and visible improvements at all facilities within the next 90 days.
He said that the Ministry of Ports and Shipping has great potential and the facilities and organisations associated with it can play a very important role in promoting economic prosperity and the development of the country, APP reported.
"The performance of all facilities and organisations will be assessed after every three months," he said, adding that the government will soon make Gwadar Port active and construct a road network connecting Gwadar to Kashgar in China.
Senator Michael also asked for media to support efforts to contain corruption and mismanagement by highlighting suspicious activity in the public sector in a timely manner.
