Oakland's annual revenue hits all-time high on air-sea volumes
PORT of Oakland annual revenue hit a record high of US$336.6 million for the year ending June 30, an increase of 4.2 per cent from the previous year.
The results was driven by a 3.9 per cent rise in maritime cargo throughput despite a 6.5 per cent decrease in loaded container volume after the dock labour dispute caused crippling west coast congestion.
Aviation cargo was up 3.1 per cent due mainly to an 8.7 per cent rise in passenger traffic at Oakland International Airport, reported the American Journal of Commerce.
“The result is encouraging, given the challenges we faced," executive director Chris Lytle was quoted as saying.
