The Dutch cargo vessel Nordland, which ran aground in the Turku archipelago after midnight on October 13, 2010, was refloated the same evening by Alfons Håkans’ tugs Hurtig and Fart.

”She was firmly aground and our tugs had to use full power in combination with the ship’s own engine to get her afloat”, Master Mariner Joakim Håkans, who led the operation, said to Shipgaz.
The Nordland was afloat at 19:15 local time and was thereafter anchored for underwater inspection of the damage. The authorities gave the green light to proceed under her own power to the nearest port. The Nordland arrived at Naantali on the morning of October 14, where it will be decided where to repair the vessel.
The diver survey after refloating the vessel showed that the vessel has suffered fairly severe damage in the bow area. The fore peak and some bottom tanks are flooded. Also the bow thruster room is taking in water, but it can be controlled by the pumps.
