The multi-modal cargo hub at noida International Airport is complete and set to begin operations alongside the airport's inauguration on October 30, reported New Delhi's Hindustan Times.
Officials from Air India SATS (AISATS), which is managing the project, said the first phase of the cargo terminal is structurally complete and undergoing tests, system integration and regulatory approvals.
Ramanathan Rajamani, chief executive officer of AISATS, said the terminal will be fully equipped to handle domestic and international cargo by the time flights commence. He added that the hub will act as a growth catalyst for logistics in Uttar Pradesh and northern India, generating thousands of indirect jobs.
The cargo hub includes parking for 42 trucks, docking for 27 heavy vehicles, a coolport for perishables and pharmaceuticals, an express courier terminal, warehouses and an e-commerce logistics park.
Consolidation centres for freight forwarders and value-added service providers will help streamline operations. The modular design allows for future expansion, with additional facilities expected to more than double capacity.
