THERE has been collision of the new Singapore-flagged 2,038-TEU Wan Hai 288 and bulk carrier, 56,050-dwt AMC Navigator in Hong Kong waters, reports Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, that specialises in marine casualties.
The collision took place off southernmost Lamma Island on the night of November 17 when both ships were underway, but Taiwanese owned Wan Hai 288 was restricted by oncoming containership on her portside, and couldn't swing to port as required to avoid collision.
The Wan Hai 288 suffered damage in bow section, and was expected be taken to a yard in Taiwan for repairs. The bulk carrier was also seriously damaged, was moving moving south of the Hong Kong-Macau line.
