SWITZERLAND-BASED container shipping major Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has named its third vessel in the company's Gulsun class of 23,000 TEUers as MSC Samar.
The naming ceremony for the 23,756 TEU ultra large container vessel (ULCV) was held recently at the Port of Bremerhaven. The MSC Samar is currently on its maiden voyage from Asia to Europe and arrived in Bremerhaven after making a stop in Algeciras, Spain.
The 228,100 dwt newbuilding was completed at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard in South Korea in late July 2019, according to data provided by VesselsValue reports World Maritime News, Rotterdam.
