MSC to up capacity on SE Asia-Oz-NZ 'Capricorn' loop with bigger ships
MEDITTERANEAN Shipping Company (MSC) is boosting its south east Asia-Australia-New Zealand Capricorn service by replacing 3,000 TEU vessels with 4,000 to 4,800 TEUers to increase capacity by 40 per cent.
The larger ships recently introduced include two 4,038 TEU ships that MSC spot chartered (the Mare Britannicum and the Mare Phoenicium), which have both been idle since October and December, according to Alphaliner.
The 4,814-TEU Messologi was re-employed earlier this month after four months spent in lay up.
