MSC takes in charge 15,905-TEU MSC Amsterdam chartered from Zodiac
MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company (MSC) has taken in charge the 15,908-TEU MSC Amsterdam, the fourth of six vessels of this size built at the STX Shipyard in South Korea. All the ships are to be chartered from Zodiac Maritime and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS).
The containership is to join the carrier's Far East-Mediterranean Tiger loop, offered jointly with Maersk Line, who brands it AE-15, within the context of the 2M shipping alliance.
The ships were initially ordered in October 2010 by Zodiac Maritime as 13,000 TEU-class ships, with the contract upgraded one year later to circa 16,000 TEU vessels, making them the first containerships of this size built by STX, reported Alphaliner.
