MSC charters today's biggest box ship - 19,224-TEU MSC Oscar
SOUTH Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has christened the world's biggest containership, the 19,224-TEU MSC Oscar that is 395 metres long, 59 metres wide and the same size as four football pitches.
With eco-friendly, high-efficiency systems and state-of-the-art technology, the MSC Oscar has been delivered earlier than scheduled, reported Mumbai's Marine Insight.
The newbuilding is one of three ships ordered by China's Bank of Communications in 2013 and is on long-term charter to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), a top three shipping line.
