MS Island Sky Gives a Boost to Turkish Tourism
Gulf Agency (GAC) succeeded in having the MS Island Sky, whom it represents, called into Turkish ports 60 times this year and thus contributed to the national economy and tourism, allowing us to preserve our prestige for future years.
This season, almost all major cruising companies took Turkish destinations out of their routes, while some others continue with us. One of them is the MS Island Sky, for whom GAC acts as an agency.
The MS Island Sky (IMO: 8802894, MMSI: 311743000) is a passenger (cruise) ship built in 1992 and currently sailing under the flag of the Bahamas. It has a length of 91 meters and a beam of 15 meters. Its gross tonnage is 4,200 metric tons.
Currently, the MS Island Sky is known as #1 vessel in terms of number of calls into ports in Turkey. The ship is owned by a Swedish shipowner affiliated with Salen Ship Management.
60 voyages to Turkey this year
The ship aims to complete its sixtieth voyage and transit pass to Turkey.
Deputy General Manager of Gulf Agency, İlker Atağ explained the following to Kaptan Haber Ajansı (Captain’s News Agency) regarding the above; “The MS Island Sky has always carried top-class passengers.
As a matter of fact, its exemplary insistence on calling into Turkish ports during this sensitive time in Turkey is like a light in the darkness. So, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Yaşar Karadağ, the owner of New Faces Tour Agency, who has dedicated nearly 30 years of his life to the luxury tourist segment, making the most significant contribution to the cruising sector. He has always raised awareness for this sector and publicized Turkey’s other ports.”
Thanks to the Ministry
“I also thank the Ministry in the presence of the General Directorate of Marine and Inland Waters,” İlker Atağ added. “They have provided full support and encouraged us to boost national tourism.”
Black Sea ports to also be included in the schedule
İlker Atağ continued as follows, “This year, we visited the southern ports of Turkey and we will soon proceed to Black Sea ports as well. There are just so many things regarding cruise tourism that can be improved by working together. So, I acknowledge all of your great efforts in enabling us to reach the masses and deliver the necessary message.”
