"Our main advantages continues to be our location, 1,000 miles from the Atlantic coast that places us at the centre of eastern Canada and within proximity of the US Midwest and US northeast consumer markets and distribution centres," said Montreal Port Authority (MPA) CEO Sylvie Vachon.
This places 70 million US and Canadian consumers within one trucking day and two rail days of the port, she said.
"Being the only port on the North American loop, Montreal is a unique model benefiting from the fully loading and unloading of container vessels," said Ms Vachon.
"As a dedicated port of call, carriers recognise the efficiencies of our multimodal platform. Our proven on-dock rail enables us to provide reliable and fluid services," she said.
