JAPANESE shipping giant Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has announced the restructuring of its existing Asia to South Africa services into direct loops from October 9 and October 15.
One service will call at south China while the other will link central China. The south China loop will start from Kaohsiung on October 9 while the central China loop starts from Shanghai on October 15.
The SAS Service, which turns in 56 days, rotates through Kaohsiung (Thurs/Fri), Xiamen (Fri/Sat), Hong Kong (Sun) Shenzhen-Shekou (Mon), Singapore (Fri/Sat), Port Kelang (Sun), Durban (Sun/Wed), Cape Town (Fri/Sun), Port Kelang (Fri), Singapore (Sat/Sun) and back to Kaohsiung.
Westbound, the 4,922-TEU MOL Solution will call at Kaohsiung on October 9; eastbound, the same ship will call at Durban on November 2. There will be seven ships in the loop ranging from 5,800 to 4,200 TEU.
On the SAC Service, which turns in 49 days, the rotation is Shanghai (Wed/Thurs), Ningbo (Fri), Keelung (Sun/Mon), Singapore (Mon/Tues), Durban (Sun/Thurs), Singapore (Thurs/Fri) and back to Shanghai.
Westbound, the 4,229-TEU Ever Respect will call at Shanghai on October 15 and eastbound the same ship will call at Durban on November 9. There will be six vessels on this loop between 4,200 and 5,800 TEU.
