MEXICO's ports posted a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in container throughput in the first four months of the year to 2,300,088 TEU, according to statistics released by the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT).
Empties accounted for 685,106 TEU of the total, an increase of 20.5 per cent. Laden boxes accounted for 1,612,757 TEU, an increase of 5.9 per cent than in the same period last year, representing 70.1 per cent of the total.
Pacific coast ports handled 1,544,321 TEU an increase of 9.6 per cent while in the Gulf of Mexico ports handled 755,767 TEU, up 10.6 per cent year on year, reports Chihuahua's MexicoNow.
