US Coast Guard crews coordinated a medevac of a woman from the 'Carnival Horizon' in New York in the evening of Sep 5, 2018. Watchstanders of the Coast Guard New York were notified around 5:45 p.m., that a 74-year-old woman aboard the ship was suffering chest pains while it was transiting southbound near Lower Manhattan. The command center dispatched a boat from the Coast Guard Station New York to assist in the medevac. The watchstanders also coordinated with FDNY and NYPD to safely remove the woman. At 6:15 p.m., the woman was transferred from the cruise ship to an NYPD vessel and taken to awaiting emergency medical services in Manhattan. The Station New York boatcrew served as the on scene coordinator and helped to alert nearby vessel traffic to safely facilitate the patient transfer.
