MALAYSIA Airlines Cargo (MASkargo), a subsidiary of the Malaysia Aviation Group, has delivered protective gear for use at hospitals in the Hubei province of China, where the city of Wuhan is located at the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak.
The goods were loaded onto a Malaysia Airlines' flight from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai Pudong as part of a collaboration with local relief organisation #OpsHarapan, which has started a donation initiative in Malaysia to collect medical supplies to help hospital staff protect themselves against the virus, reported London's Air Cargo News.
MASkargo chief executive Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh was quoted as saying: 'MASkargo is honoured to partner #OpsHarapan in transporting these supplies together with our sister company, Malaysia Airlines.
'We operate into China daily and we greatly empathise with the predicament the country is currently facing including challenges in travel into and out of China.
'We will ensure that the supplies, consisting of surgical masks, N95 masks, surgical gloves among others, reach the respective hospitals and will help the doctors and nurses carry out their duties safely.
'We have been part of many relief aid missions, the recent ones being for victims of Taal volcano eruption in Manila and also bushfire victims in Australia. Our logistics support network has allowed us to move efficiently and in quick time to help those in need,' he added.
