GERMANY's Lufthansa Cargo has added a sixth Boeing 777 freighter to its fleet that is based at Frankfurt airport. Two MD-11Fs are to be phased out by year-end as part of its fleet modernisation programme that lasts until 2025.
The latest aircraft arrived from Everett, Washington and was received with a welcome ceremony after its official ferry flight with flight number LH8145.
Chief operations officer Harald Gloy said: 'We are delighted to welcome the sixth Boeing 777 freighter to our fleet today. This aircraft is the quietest and most efficient in its class - and therefore the freighter of our choice for our ongoing fleet modernisation.'
The carrier is also awaiting delivery this spring of a further Boeing 777F. It will then operate seven Boeing 777F and ten MD-11F aircraft.
