LUFTHANSA Cargo is boosting its North American presence, becoming the first European cargo airline to connect Europe with Monterrey, reports London's AviationSource.
Starting June 3, the company announced, a new freighter route will connect Frankfurt (FRA) with the key industrial hub of Monterrey (MTY) in Mexico, via Mexico City (NLU).
This weekly service, operated by a Boeing 777F, caters specifically to the needs of automotive, electronics, and medical product shippers.
'We're excited to be the first European cargo airline to connect Monterrey with the European market,' said lufthansa Cargo CEO Ashwin Bhat.
'This expansion aligns with our strategy of unlocking new markets and facilitating global trade. With this addition, Lufthansa Cargo boasts up to 33 freighter frequencies to North America each week, on top of up to four dedicated South American freighter routes and extensive belly cargo options.'
Further bolstering North American connections, Lufthansa Cargo is adding a Dubai stopover (DWC) to its existing Shanghai-Frankfurt B777F freighter route.
Additionally, this summer will see a significant expansion of the belly network through partner airlines.
Passengers flying Lufthansa Airlines from Frankfurt can now enjoy direct connections to Minneapolis and Raleigh-Durham.
Similarly, Austrian Airlines offers new direct flights from Vienna to Los Angeles and Boston. Discover Airlines joins with summer routes connecting Frankfurt to Anchorage and Halifax.
Brussels Airlines strengthens its African presence with extra summer flights from Brussels to Nairobi (Kenya) and Kigali (Rwanda).
Meanwhile, Lufthansa Airlines from Munich has expanded its reach to include new destinations: Trondheim (Norway), Nantes (France), Oulu (Finland), Chisinau (Moldova), and the North American cities of Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver.
