Dry Bulk
On the dry-bulk side, this week we picked up that clients of Cyprus Maritime have purchased offmarket panamax NEREID (74K BLT 2001 SANOYAS/JAPAN) for the soft price of $10.5 mill in comparison with the end of September sale of CROWN STAR (76K BLT 2002 IMABARI/JAPAN) at $13.6 mill to Greeks.
Meantime, we heard rumours that EMERALD STREAM (76K BLT 2003 OSHIMA/JAPAN) has seen offers at excess $14 mill. Furthermore Greek buyers have paid the price of $13.5 mill in an off-market deal for VEGA PIONEER (52K BLT 2002 SANOYAS/JAPAN), which is in line with similar sale of SPRING FALCON (51K BLT 2001 OSHIMA/JAPAN) (reported sold couple of weeks ago) for $12.5-13 mill to Greek buyers. We understand that late 90’s vintage KS SPIRIT (48K BLT 1999 IHI/JAPAN) is committed to clients of Chekka Shipping of Greece for the soft price of $9.5-$10 mill. Four years older VOSHOD 2 (47K BLT 1995 OSHIMA/JAPAN) has attracted $7.2 mill from Greek interests in line with last month reported sale of NEW EMERALD (45K BLT 1996 SAMSUNG/S. KOREA) for $7.8 mill.
Modern handy size vessel D HANDY (37K BLT 2011 HYUNDAI/S. KOREA) has been sold to Greek buyers for the price of $19.5 mill, exactly same level as her sister B HANDY (37K BLT 2012 HYUNDAI/ S. KOREA) last month.
Tankers
In the Tanker segment, we understand that six year old MR unit PULA (47.5K BLT 2006/CROATIA) has attracted $21 mill basis 5 years bareboat back at undisclosed rate from clients of Borealis KS, while smaller but three years younger MR unit WILDEBEEST (39K BLT 2009 SLS/S. KOREA) has changed hands within Japan fetching the firm price of $20 mill.
Remind you last week‘s sale of two year older MR SEAEDEN (45K BLT 2007 SHIN KURUSHIMA/JAPAN) sold for $18.5 mill. Older MR unit NORDAMERIKA (35K BLT 2000 JINHAE/CHINA) went for $12 mill to undisclosed buyers.
At a Danish court auction, double hull Russian built handy GREEN FOREST (20K BLT 2000 ADMIRALTEISKIY/RUSSIA COATED, COILED, LDT 7506), has gone to Greek interests for $2.5-$3 mill, having a scrap value of about $3.2 mill. Two smaller modern Chinese built chemical units GLOBAL RIVER (7K BLT 2011 TAIXING/CHINA) and GLOBAL SUN (4K BLT 2011 YIZHENG/CHINA) were sold en bloc for $15.5 mill to undisclosed interests.
Demolition
In the demolition sector this week, Subcontinent market remains firm as last week paying levels between $380-$415 for bulkers, $390-$435 for tankers & $390-$420 for container vessels. China is still hungry for tonnage, paying $5-$10 per LT more than last week. China rates are $320-$330 for bulkers, $340-$345 for tankers, $335-$340 for containers. Last but not least, Turkish market has softened for third consecutive week, paying $270-$280 for bulker, $290-$300 for tankers and $285- $295 for containers.
