Bangladeshi buyers are linked with purchases of two handymaxes this week at firm levels; Japanese controlled SUNNY GLORIA (45K BLT 1998 THUNEISHI/JAPAN) attracted a punchy $9.4 – $9.7 mill from clients of Symphony while older unit ROGUE (42K BLT 1991 OSHIMA/JAPAN LDT 6531) fetched the solid price of $5.8 mill.
We picked up today that Greek buyers have bought 5 year old handy CLIPPER GLORY (30.5K BLT 2007 SHANGHAIGUAN/CHINA CR 4X30T) for high $11 mill. Remind you that her exact sister CLIPPER GRACE was reported sold one month ago for $11.3 mill also to Greeks. Japanese controlled C. S. VICTORY (32K BLT 2003 KANDA/JAPAN) is sold for $10.8 - $11 mill to Greek buyers, same level with end August’ sale of one year older sister IVS KESTREL (32K BLT 2002 KANDA/JAPAN) for $10.8 - $11 mill to Far Eastern buyers. Vintage handy ROYAL RUBY (27K BLT 1985 MITSUI/JAPAN LDT 5672) achieved the price of $2.8 - $2.9 mill by Chinese interests as well as smaller handy TASMAN ID (21K BLT 1994 SAIKI/JAPAN LDT 5204) for $4.5-4.9 mill.
In the Tanker segment, we picked up that the VLCC ALGARVE (298K BLT 1999 DAEWOO/S. KOREA) was purchased for $35.8 mill to clients of MODEC of Japan for conversion purposes. Two MR tankers changed hands this week; HIGH WIND (46K BLT 1999 JINHAE/CHINA) was sold for $12.2 mill to Chinese interests while younger but smaller unit ANTIGNANO (40K BLT 2002 HYUNDAI/S. KOREA) went to clients of Seaworld Management of Monaco for $13.5 - $14.2 mill levels. Smaller modern tanker SAMHO SAPPHIRE (13K BLT 2009 SAMHO/JAPAN) was sold through auction in Busan, South Korea on 17th October for the price of $11.8 mill to clients of Buyong San Shipping of South Korea.
In the demolition sector this week, Bangladesh and Pakistan market are still bullish paying between $380-$390 for bulkers, $390-$430 for tankers & $380-$420 for container vessels.
India after a period of increase is now stabilizing, paying similar levels as last week i.e. $415-422 for bulkers, $430-$440 for tankers and $425-$435 for containers. China has strengthen $5 to $10 more since last week paying $335-$345 for bulkers, $350-$360 for tankers, $340-$350 for containers. Turkish market continues to weaken for 3rd consecutive week, paying $270-$280 for bulker, $290-$300 for tankers and $285-$295 for containers.
