Clients of Cyprus Maritime of Greece have purchased en-bloc from the Japanese market cape KOHFUKUSAN (172K BLT 1999 NKK/JAPAN) for $15 mill and panamax ORANGE TRIDENT (78K BLT 2007 SANOYAS/JAPAN) for $23 mill. Same age SHINING BLISS (77K BLT 2007 NAMURA/JAPAN) achieved the similar price of $22.5 mill. Brazilian built ROYAL OCEAN (70K BLT 1995 ISHIBRAS LDT 10691) has finally found buyers from China who paid $8.5 mill while other Chinese have committed PETKA (75K BLT 1994 B+W/DENMARK) for $9.1-9.7 mill including 1 year t/c back to Sellers Atlanska Plovidba of Croatia at a rate of $10,000 per day.
Greek buyers have acquired a prompt 58k supramax resale ex Dayang Shipyard in China for $26.8 mill while compatriots’ clients of Carras Hellas have bought a prompt 61k resale ex Imabari shipyard in Japan for $28.3 mill.
Higher price indicates the premium that buyers are willing to pay for Japanese tonnage.
Japanese controlled supramax HIRYU (53K BLT 2003 OSHIMA/JAPAN) is committed to Greeks for $17.7 mill while two years older FURNESS AUSTRALIA (52K BLT 2001 TSUNEISHI/JAPAN) went for $15 mill to undisclosed buyers.
One more Japanese controlled supramax changed hands; AEGEAN FALCON (50K BLT 2000 MITSUI/JAPAN) was sold to clients of PCL of Singapore for $14.3-14.5 mill.
Same age handymax TARAPACA (46K BLT 2000 KANASASHI/JAPAN) was snapped by clients of Trade Fortune of Greece for $13 mill.
Modern handy resales 38k ex Imabari shipyard blt 2011/12 in Japan were purchased by clients of Pacific Basin for $22.3 mill & by European buyers for $22 mill respectively.
In a bank related deal, clients of Panstar Shipping of South Korea have bought ORIENTAL FINDER (32K BLT 2003 KANDA/JAPAN) for $13 mill. Turkish buyers purchased similar unit GITTA OLDENDORFF (32K BLT 2005 SAIKI/JAPAN) for $14.2 mill, while smaller unit SH BRIGHT (29K BLT 2006 SHIKOKU/JAPAN) went for $15.7 mill to undisclosed buyers.
Nineties vintage duo ARMSTRONG (28K BLT 1995 NAKAI/JAPAN) and same age SPRING BULKER (27K BLT 1995 MITSUBISHI/JAPAN) went for $7.5 mill & $8 mill respectively, both to undisclosed buyers.
Modern singledecker IKAN TERBANG (18K BLT 2005 YAMANISHI/JAPAN) has commanded a price of $10 mill from Turkish buyers.
Eighties vintage handysize SEA HOPE (28K BLT 1989/JAPAN CR 4X30T) went to Chinese buyers for the soft level of $4 mill, indicating her poor condition.
In the Tanker segment, we had a very quiet week; small unit AGISTRI (9K BLT 1992/JAPAN) was sold to undisclosed buyers at level in excess of $2 mill, while in a judicial sale in Mumbai, India, modern unit KORMEL (7K BLT 2010/TURKEY) achieved $10.25 mill by European buyers. Clients of Borealis Maritime of U.K. have purchased en bloc sisters LYCIAN & HADA (5.5K BLT 2007/08 CELIKTEKNE/TURKEY) for $8 mill each.
In the container/mpp/tween segment, we had another slow week; US buyers have bought 10 year old geared feeder WEHR NIENSTEDTEN (1730 TEUS 23K BLT 2002/POLAND CR 3X40T) for $12 mill while gearless HR MAGICIAN (917 TEUS 10K BLT 2005/UKRAINE) was acquired by clients of Vega Reederei of Germany for $11 mill with 95% financing attached.
In the Demolition sector, Bangladesh is bullish while India & Pakistan is stable. Subcontinent sentiment is cautious with prices ranging at $465 for bulkers, at $490 for tankers & at $490 for Tweendeckers/Containers. In other major demo-markets this week, China is down by $10 per lt paying $415 while Turkey is bullish, improving by $10 paying $355 per lt.
