Leftist Greek state to undo new privatisations, but not old ones
THE newly elected leftist Greek government, despite its open hostility to privatising state assets, does not plan to undo privatisations that have already been completed, said a government official.
The radical government will only reassess state divestments that were in the previous government's pipeline, the official told Reuters. "We will not cancel completed privatisations."
Hong Kong's Cosco Pacific, the port operating arm of Beijing-based China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company, has partially privatised Piraeus Port and is the front runner in bids to privatise the rest of it.
The previous rightist government had planned to sell Piraeus, Thessalonica Port and the state railway, Trainees.
