IRAN and Oman have now opened their fourth direct container shipping route, connecting the Iranions port Jask to the Oman's port of Al Suwaiq, said the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).
The chamber anticipates more Iranian goods and agricultural products will be shipped to Oman as a result of launching this new shipping route.
The first shipping route linking the two countries was introduced in March 2015 and links Iran's port of Bandar Abbas to Oman's Sohar port. The Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce said the Bandar Abbas-Sohar route was temporarily closed due to US sanctions on Iran but has since resumed operations.
In December 2016 direct shipping routes from two Omani ports to the Iranian port of Shahid Bahonar were established, and in December 2017 another shipping service between Sohar port and Khorramshahr was launched, reported Dubai's Logistics Middle East.
