THE Port of Los Angeles' September container throughput slipped 2.7 per cent year on year to 779,903 TEU while year-to-date volumes were up 4.7 per cent to 7.1 million TEU.
September 2019 imports decreased 2.9 per cent to 402,320 TEU while exports decreased 11 per cent to 130,769 TEU, marking the 11th straight month of export decline.
Said LA port boss Gene Seroka: 'The ill-advised US-China trade war continues to wreak havoc on American exporters and manufacturers. We've seen declining exports for 11 consecutive months while our fastest growing market segment is exporting empty containers back to Asia.'
