Koreans in Oman are reaching out to help the wounded captain of the Korean cargo ship, Samho Jewelry… freed from Somali pirates last week.
The captain, Seok Hae-kyun , who was flown to Oman for surgery after having suffered bullet wounds to his stomach, leg and arm… is waiting to get additional surgeries for his injuries.
And the announcement of the captain's need of blood donations for his second operation… brought about a flurry of Koreans rushing to the hospital to donate their blood.
Military officials who accompanied Seok to the hospital after the rescue operation were the first to volunteer with local Koreans working in Oman as well as reporters at the scene… also taking part to help the captain.
Seok is expected to receive his second operation on Monday.
