JAPAN's third largest shipping line 'K' Line announced that its law suit against APL Logistics (APLL) filed in December last year over rumours that the carrier was going bankrupt has been settled amicably.
The shipping line filed the lawsuit in the Tokyo District Court on December 22 seeking damages in relation to emails sent by APLL staff concerning 'K' Line's financial situation.
In a brief statement, 'K' Line said: 'APLL and its parent company, Kintetsu World Express Inc, acknowledged the fact that the emails included an erroneous report, expressed their regret and responded sincerely, and now we and APLL have reached an amicable settlement in relation to that claim.'
No other details were provided.
The Japanese carrier said last year that 'K' Lines' reputation had been 'substantially damaged' and had suffered considerable damage due to cancellations or suspensions of bookings by clients,' and had decided to file the lawsuit in order to 'restore its social confidence and clarify the social responsibility of a company such as APLL.'
