U.S. Ambassador David Thorne praised the work of Italian aid to survivors of the Costa Concordia.
The United States still await news of two missing, Gerald and Barbara Heil. In an interview with Adnkronos Thorne assured: "At Giglio, I saw an Italian work- which is quite different from that represented by the commander Schettino."
The tragic event of the sinking of the ship Concordia "has moved across the American public, as well as the Italian and world," the U.S. ambassador pressed.
"In the States there is much debate on the conduct of the ship's captain Francesco Schettino and who made a bad impression. But I saw an Italy very different work. "
He reported on his visit yesterday, the island of Giglio, Thorne points out: "I saw the great service rendered to its citizens not only from Italy but the entire international community, I have seen so many people, military and civil work even at the risk of his life in trying to retrieve the bodies of victims still missing and I have seen the capacity for intervention and assistance while in a difficult situation. By the U.S., we are grateful to Italy for the effort that is taking place, by all: by the Navy to the Coast Guard, the Civil Protection and Fire Department to the same nationality.
