SHAHID Rajaee port in southern Iran handled 13.269 million tonnes of commodities in the two months ending May 21, according to the director general of Ports and Maritime Department of Hormozgan province.
Allah Morad Afifipour said that within this total 8.942 million tonnes were non-oil commodities and 4.326 million tonnes were oil products.
In late February the third phase of the development plan for the port was launched in Hormozgan province in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani and Transport and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhoundi, reported Teheram Times.
Upon the completion of this phase within three years at a cost of US$204.7 million, the port's capacity will rise to eight million TEU.
