India and Saudi Arabia have agreed to set up an institutional mechanism for maritime cooperation to strengthen ties in shipping, ports and logistics, reports Saint Petersburg's PortNews.
The agreement followed a virtual meeting between India's Shipping, Ports and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Saudi Transport and Logistics Services Minister Saleh Al Jasser. The initiative is guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Sonowal said India's Maritime Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 align with Saudi Vision 2030, offering opportunities in ports, shipping and green hydrogen. He invited Saudi partners to explore India's US$1 trillion maritime investment prospects and announced plans to host a Saudi delegation at india Maritime Week in October 2025.
