MANILA's International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) has implemented an AI-powered operational optimisation tool at its flagship terminal, the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), reports the American Journal of Tranportation.
The solution, YardSight, is part of the larger AI Solution Suite AiCON. It's developed by Avlino, a New Jersey-based AI and digital company, and in partnership with IGO Solutions, a UK-based siftware provider for container terminals.
'The YardSight AI module, in its current form, provides logic for the most efficient stacking positions based on optimal work balancing of our rubber tyre gantries (RTGs). This results in increased productivity for internal and external trucks, reduced traffic clashes, and minimised yard rehandles when stacking import containers,' said MICT chief Anders Dommestrup.
'The AiCON Solution Suite has ushered in a real paradigm shift. YardSight's adaptability to changing operational metrics helped bridge the gap between operational business fundamentals and technology,' said Mr Dommestrup.
'It has also enhanced our operation team's interest in technology and the IT team's interest in operational realities even further, which benefits the business as we move towards greater automation,' he said.
Avlino founding CEO Ramana Jampala declared that the partnership with ICTSI has been instrumental in shaping YardSight.
