PORTS in northern China's Hebei province posted a 70.7 per cent year-on-year increase in container volume to 133,000 TEU in January, reports Xinhua.
Overall cargo volume in the month handled by the ports increased 6.8 per cent year on year to 72.64 million tonnes.
Tangshan port, one of the three major ports in the province, lifted 38.44 million tonnes in the period, up 14 per cent year on year, while its container volume surged 77.9 per cent to 74,000 TEU.
Qinhuangdao port's throughput came to 20.69 million tonnes, almost the same as last year and its container volume grew 67.5 per cent to 38,000 TEU.
Huanghua port recorded a 5.9 per cent increase to 13.5 million tonnes. The container volume increased 54.3 per cent to 21,000 TEU in the month.
