GERMANY's Hapag-Lloyd has commenced the new Turkey Israel Express (TIX) service to enhance its port coverage in the eastern Mediterranean with the first sailing having departed from Mersin in Turkey on May 5.
The TIX initially links five ports in Egypt, Israel and Turkey to the carrier's global service network. From the end of June Iskenderun will be added as a port of call. The port rotation is Damietta, Port Said (East), Mersin, Iskenderun, Haifa and back Damietta.
The weekly service is operated by a single 810-TEU vessel equipped with 150 reefer plugs.
The company said in a statement that with the launch of the TIX, the port rotation of two existing Mediterranean services have been changed as follows: The new port rotation of the Levante Express (LEX) service is: Cagliari, Genoa, Leghorn, Naples, Salerno, Cagliari, Alexandria, Damietta, Mersin, Izmir and back Cagliari.
The amended Adriatic Express (ADX) service calls Damietta, Rijeka, Koper, Venice, Ancona, Bari (from June), Port Said (East), returning to Damietta.
