The US oast Guard and partner agencies responded to the grounding of the 'Clearwater' in the afternoon of Sep 12, 2018, on the Hudson River near Catskill, New York, with 46 passengers and 11 crew members aboard. The Coast Guard monitored the situation until the vessel refloated itself. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department launched and escorted the sailing vessel back to Catskill. Marine inspectors of the Coast Guard New York also responded to assess the vessel’s condition prior to it resuming operations with passengers. There were no reports of injuries to the passengers or the crew aboard and no reports of pollution in the water. The investigators now focussed on determining the cause of the incident.
