GEODIS will stage its first 'hackathon' that will draw together artificial intelligence (AI) specialists, IT professionals and data forecasting experts to test the veracity of their optimization skills against each other.
One part of the competition applies to warehouse optimisation and the other to human and material resources.
The logistics firm said it intends to invest more in innovation and the utilization of data and made several moves towards that objective this year. In March it launched an instant quote-generating service for forwarding companies with Portrix Logistics and partnered with French unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) company Delta Drone to develop a drone-based warehouse solution.
'In today's fast-paced and changing environment, data is key,' Geodis CEO Laurent Parat said: 'That is why we believe that experts and talented start-ups can bring new visions to our group.'
The competition will be held November 8 in Paris in collaboration with BeMyApp, a digital transformation and developer relations agency.
