CIMB Research is warning that the decision by Malaysia's Port Klang Authority (PKA) to delay implementation of the scheduled gateway tariff hike by six months will reduce Westports' 2018 to 2019 financial years' core net profit forecasts by one to three per cent.
This sentiment was echoed by MIDF Research which said: 'As we factor in the lower quantum of tariff hike and the revised period of its implementation, we are tweaking our total container revenue per TEU assumption for the 2018 and 2019 financial years to MYR154.28 (US$33.46) and MYR156.53 [from MYR158.35 and MYR160.55] respectively.'
PKA has instructed Westports to delay the scheduled 13 per cent gateway tariff hike by six months to March 1 2019, after it was originally scheduled to be implemented on September 1, reported The Edge Financial Daily, Kuala Lumpur.
