Norwegian shipowner John Fredriksen, who has been in an ordering rush since last year, is said to have signed a letter of intent before China's Lunar New Year holiday for newbuilding capesize bulkers.
Reports say Fredriksen-led Frontline 2012 signed the LOI for 4+2 180,000-dwt bulkers with China's Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding.
Moreover, Fredriksen is said to have expanded its previous capesize order at China's Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding from 4+2 newbuildings to 8+4.
Already having booked firm four plus two options and firm four and optional four capesizes at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co and STX Dalian each, Fredriksen would have secured a total of 32 capesize orderbook, when added with LOIs and options.
Market players say the owner is now also finalizing a contract for 115,000-dwt LR2 product tanker quartet, for delivery in 2015, with COSCO Dalian.
