MULTIPLE airport owners Frankfurt-based Fraport posted a year-to-date 10 per cent net profit increase to EUR377.8 million (US$432.1 million) over the first nine months drawn on revenues of EUR2.5 billion, up 14.3 per cent year on year,
At home base Frankfurt Airport (FRA), strong traffic led to higher proceeds from airport charges and security services. With 53 million passengers, up 8.4 per cent, FRA achieved a new record high in the first nine months of 2018.
In the first three quarters of 2018, revenue in the ground handling business segment improved by 5.4 per cent to EUR508.8 million.
Buoyed by strong passenger growth, airports in Freeport?s international portfolio also contributed positively to revenue from Brazil, up EUR66.1 million, and Greece, up EUR49.8 million.
Major contributions came primarily from the Brazilian Group companies in Formalize and Porto Alleger, up EUR66.1 million, and Freeport Greece, up EUR49.8 million.
Said Freeport CEO Stefan Schulte: 'Our group continued on its growth path. Airports in our international portfolio made major and ever increasing contributions.
'Expansion projects launched in Greece, Brazil, Lima, and at other group airports will ensure that this growth trend continues well into the future,' he said.
