SILICON Valley headquartered air and ocean freight forwarder Flexport has officially opened its first warehouse in Shenzhen's Yantian port.
The warehouse is a major milestone for the company's online-offline integrated services.
Offering an end-to-end user experience, Flexport aims to enhance its modern smart logistics services and help companies in Hong Kong and China accelerate their pace of global expansion.
In 2017 Yantian port handled a total of 12.7 million TEU, representing an increase of 8.61 per cent over the previous year, making it the first port of choice for mega ships in southern China.
The establishment of the new warehouse in Yantian port is intended to not only improve efficiency but also create better visibility for customers as their goods await consolidation and shipping.
'It is our honour to witness the launch of Flexport's warehouse at one of our properties, the Shenzhen ProLogis-Yantian Port Logistics Park. GLP is committed to promoting a smarter operational model for modern logistics to provide more comprehensive logistics services, which is in line with Flexport's direction,' said Real Estate, GLP China co-president Victor Mok at the opening ceremony.
Since its establishment Flexport has been utilising technology to create smart logistics services, improve freight efficiency and capacity, enhance emergency response capabilities and address the lack of information sharing within the industry.
'We will strengthen our smart freight forwarding services and continue to offer better quality and a more reliable user experience to SMEs in Hong Kong and China,' said Flexport managing director Henry Ko.
Following the completion of its first warehouse in China, the company plans to set up offices in Shanghai and Taipei later this year. Moving forwards, it will continue to provide customers with a smart logistics experience through ongoing investment in establishing and optimising offline logistics infrastructures.
