Export operations at Bangladesh's largest seaport have resumed after customs officials called off a strike, reports Dhaka's Business Standard.
Customs officers ended their protest after the government classified revenue jobs as essential services and threatened disciplinary action.
The strike halted container movements from inland depots to Chattogram Port, causing delays in exports and vessel departures.
Customs clearance and container handling resumed at port gates, scanning units, and inland container depots from the evening of June 29.
Port officials confirmed efforts to clear backlogs of nearly 4,000 containers and restore normal operations.
Exporters aim to transport at least 2,000 TEU overnight from 19 inland depots to the port.
Clearing and forwarding agents also resumed bill submissions and customs documentation. Full import and export operations are expected to normalize from July 1.
