HAMBURG ship management company ER Schiffahrt has announced that Nils Aden, 41, will take over the position of chief executive officer on February 1, replacing Hermann Klein, 57.
As CEO, Mr Aden will be responsible for fleet management, crewing, customer relations, chartering and quality divisions. He has been with the ER group for eight years, and for the past two years has been a member of the board, the release said.
The incumbent CEO, Dr Klein, is said to be leaving the company of "his own will" at the end of his three-year contract. He has been managing director of ER Capital Holding and the ship management company since 2012.
During his tenure, Mr Klein headed the merger between ship management companies ER Schiffahrt, Komrowski Befrachtungskontor and Blue Star, part of the Komrowski group, to form the new Blue Star Holding company.
"Hermann Klein navigated ER Schiffahrt through a challenging time and took it in a new direction. With his expertise, strong leadership and dedicated service, he developed and implemented innovative and future-oriented projects," said group's founder and owner, Erck Rickmers.
Isabelle Rickmers becomes a member of the board from January 1 when she takes on new business, key account management and purchasing divisions. She currently heads the customer relations.
ER Capital Holding's and the shipping company's CFO, Frank Bergert, will retain responsibility for finance in the new three-person board.
Willem Dekker, hitherto managing director, moves to ER Capital Holding at the beginning of next year. He will assume a variety of cross-departmental functions and strengthen the business development team.
